First Shoes

Click on the picture and see me in my first shoes
Since Liam has been taking some steps on his own for quite some time now (today he took 4 of them towards me), we decided that it was time to get his some shoes. So we asked around and everyone had the same answer: Stride Rite shoes. So daddy took Liam to the Stride Rite store and they tried on several pairs and ended up buying one. Men always decide much faster than women, don't they? Turns out he is a size 4. We don't know whether it's small, medium, or large and we didn't bother to find out. Scott was just so thrilled that Liam was on his best behavior and didn't have a meltdown in spite of having to try on several pairs of shoes. And the nice lady at the store took Liam's picture with his new shoes on and gave it to them. So we have proof. Of course he won't be wearing these shoes at home or in most indoor places but when we go outdoors he will have a pair of good and EXPENSIVE shoes.

Daddy the Hair Stylist Strikes Again

Yesterday I got so fed up with Liam's hair going into his eyes again so I called "Daddy the Hair Stylist" for the rescue again. And again, he has proven that he is a man of many talents, a truly renaissance man. Here are before and after pictures

Two Steps Forward...

Hooray!!! Liam, Scott & I were hanging out in our family room this evening after Liam's dinner. Liam was standing up and holding onto the coffee table and all of the sudden, the little man let go of the coffee table and took TWO steps towards me (I was on the sofa). He took TWO WHOLE STEPS without holding onto anything. It was so amazing. And then our screams of joy kind of scared him and he fell down on this cute little bottom. But it was real. He did it. We were so proud. And then it hit us like a ton of bricks. We realized that soon he will be able to get into way more trouble than he has been able to just by crawling. So now we will wait and see when this miracle will happen again and of course we will report to y'all.

So Much Fun and No Evidence

This past Sunday we accepted an invitation from our friends Brian & Suzanne to join the gang at their creek house for an end of summer celebration. All of our friends that we haven't seen in quite a while were going to be there and as tired as we were, we really didn't want to miss out on seeing everyone. So we got up extra early and packed up the Liam and all of his necessities (for 1 day mind you!!!) and drove for a little over an hour and arrived at the most peaceful house ever. They have a wonderful vacation home there and it was so calming and relaxing. Liam finally got to see his "almost twin" Shelby. Shelby is Ben & Katie's 4th child and she is a day older than Liam. The babies played together (sort of) and all the other girls just kept showering the babies with attention. Liam was a bit shy at first, but soon he got all comfortable with everyone and started giving out his famous smiles. He even took his usual nap!!! It was indeed a successful day. We had a nice time and even managed to relax a bit. And we made it back in time for his bath. But, we forgot our camera at home (shame on us, we know!!!) and so we have no evidence of this day. So you will just have to take our word for it.

Liam has Conquered the Steps

In the past few days, I have tried to get Liam to show interest in figuring out how to climb up the steps all by himself. It's really quite selfish of me. He is getting to be too heavy to carry up and down all the time. So I figured if sometimes he could do a few steps here and there on his own, that would be just fine with me. But until today he was not at all interested. Today, however, he climbed one step in the morning. And then three more in the afternoon. It always amazes me how they figure out how to do these things without any demonstration. He just knew what to do. Like he just knew how to crawl when he was ready for it. Pretty amazing. No pictures to document though because I was too busy to make sure he doesn't fall down the steps.

Liam Visits Daddy's High School Friends

This past Saturday we took baby Liam to Northern Virginia to see some of daddy's friends from high school. Liam had a really good time meeting all the new people and he never complained. He crawled around and explored the new surroundings. He didn't even get upset about getting passed around from person to person. He and Meg exchanged some intense looks, and he seemed quite content in Latanya's arms. And there are some pictures with mommy as well...

Liam Doesn't Like Avocado

At Liam's 9 months appointment the doctor said we can try new and more textured foods. He said to try avocado again. Well, as you can tell from the picture, he didn't really take to it. Oh well, so Liam won't be an avocado eater. Not a big deal. It's his loss really!

A Visit from Grandpa Phil

This past weekend, grandpa Phil came to visit the little man. They had so much fun together, building towers and knocking them down. They went for a nice walk during a surprisingly pleasant August day in Richmond. Liam gave grandpa quite the workout, having grandpa chase him all around the house while he was opening cabinets and drawers and trying to get into them. And grandpa also helped us so much with some more baby proofing and lots of other little things that added up to a lot of help. Here are a couple of pictures from the visit, and there are plenty more if you click on the link to our photos on the right.

Liam the Master Napper

Liam seems to have inherited his daddy's super napping abilities. Daddy was giving Liam his dinner while mommy was taking care of some stuff upstairs. Then I was surprised by daddy with a sleeping Liam in his arms telling me the boy fell asleep, AGAIN, while eating his dinner and that he was going to put him down in his crib. This was the thirs time this has happened. This time, however, daddy captured it on camera. Yay!!! Of course he woke up later to nurse but we think it's just too precious and we had to share.

Daddy the Hair Stylist

Last night, Scott showed his true talent to be hair styling rather than math and insurance. Liam badly needed a haircut as his bangs were going into his eyes and lots of hair was covering his ears so daddy gave him a haircut. And considering the amount of squirming involved, we think daddy did a fine job. Yeah, maybe it's not perfectly straight and all, but we think Liam looks as fine as always and he seems quite happy with his new look.
