Just Some Notes from My Sick Day

So when I'm sick, my mommy lets me stay in my pj's until it's time for lunch. I like staying in my pj's. She does insist on brushing my teeth after breakfast and I think that's unfair, because if I'm sick, I should be allowed to not brush my teeth.

After lunch I took a nice, long nap and then mommy said that it's time to go outside for a little bit to get some fresh air. Now, grandma Ruthie says you shouldn't take a sick baby outside. But, first, I'm not a baby anymore, and second, mommy said that fresh air is very important, and even more so when you are sick. So she put the hooded jacket on me and insisted on me wearing the hood. I didn't like that all that much and tried to take it off, but she made me keep it on...No Hood Please

And then it was dinner time and bath time and night night time...


Oh, and I'm looking forward to Saturday because that's when grandpa Gabi comes to visit. I'm not looking forward to next week though because my daddy will be away for the entire week and I will miss him terribly.

Even When I'm Sick I Try Real Hard to Be a Good Sport!!!

Yes, I am such a special little boy!!! Even when I'm sick I try to be a good sport about things. For example, my mommy gave me way too much food for dinner tonight. She didn't actually give me any more food than usual, it's just that I'm sick. My ears were hurting really bad and I just felt uncomfortable all over and it was too much. But, I tried really hard to do a good job eating because my mommy is Jewish so it makes her so happy when I eat well. So here I am, eating away (or so my mommy thought...)

But after a while I started feeling worse so I wasn't having as much fun anymore and I kind of wanted to get that whole dinner thing over and done with

Oh, and then when dinner was over I got to watch Veggie Tales while my mommy was cleaning up the mess I made (she lets me watch TV while she is cleaning up so that I don't get in her way of cleaning). So this is me watching Veggie Tales after the messy dinner clothes were taken off of me and right before my bath





When she was cleaning, she discovered that I didn't actually eat that well (it was silly of her to expect a sick toddler to eat well, really!) and that most of the food ended up on my seat and on the mat





But that's ok, I made up for it later when I had my snack, though I did throw up some and my mommy didn't have anything other than her hands to catch the vomit with (I'm sure she loved that one!)

And then they (M&D) gave me the horrible medicine again but at least I got to nurse after that.

Mommy said that thanks to the nasty medicine I should be feeling a whole lot better tomorrow; I hope she knows what she's talking about

Double Ear Infection

For the past four nights I have been making things a little difficult for my M&D. Last night it got A LOT worse so this morning my daddy took me to the doctor. I didn't get to see my favorite doctor but the one I saw was decent enough I guess. As you must have guessed from the title, I have a double ear infection. You see, that's the way I do things - if I'm going to have an ear infection, I'm going to go all the way and have a double one and get it over with! So I am on antibiotics yet AGAIN. I just finished the last course of them last week and now I have to start all over again. And the one they gave me this time tastes even worse!!! Oh well; I guess that's life. I'm hoping to start feeling better by tomorrow and to let M&D sleep tonight. I'll be back again once I'm feeling better.

Yesterday we had a Richmond rarity - it snowed!!! It was the 3rd snow this winter but yesterday's snow was much more special than the previous two times because it was on a Saturday so both M&D (Mommy & Daddy) were home with me. And also because just a few days ago, mommy received the snow suit that she ordered for me. So once she saw that snow was falling she asked daddy to get me in my brand new snow suit and brand new boots and to take me outside. She really wanted just daddy to take me outside because she doesn't care much for the snow and cold. But then she decided it wouldn't be fair if me and daddy had all the fun without her so she joined us. As for me, I like the cold so I had a blast. Though I have to admit it was a bit more difficult than I imagined to move around in that snow suit and boots. I would have been just fine in regular clothes and a regular jacket, but my mommy is a Jewish mother and I still have a runny nose so I got stuck in this snow suit and fell a whole bunch of times and I hardly ever fall anymore. But that's ok, I really don't mind. So a couple of minutes after we got outside we heard our neighbor Niki out so we went over to say hi. She was outside hanging out with a couple of friends. Niki just loves me (can you blame her?). She thinks I'm the most adorable toddler in the whole world so she showered me with lots of love and attention, which is always nice. I also got to say hi to her parents and her dogs. And then it was time to get back home for dinner, but not before mommy and daddy took some pictures and videos of the whole thing

So today I was feeling a little bit better, so my friend Parker and his mom Denise came over for a play date. They braved the Richmond snow (they're from Florida so a Richmond snow seems like a pretty big deal to them) and arrived at around 9:30 in the morning. Parker and I had so much fun. We played together and then apart. I shared my snacks and lunch with him. They left after lunch and right before my nap. Of course my mommy forgot to take pictures while they were here. She was too busy having fun chatting with Parker's mom; she doesn't get much adult interaction, you know. I didn't take a very good nap today so mommy wasn't able to get much done. Mommy and I had some fun going through my tunnel this afternoon and we were reading and playing and acting all silly. I then had dinner and it seems like my appetite is starting to come back so I must be getting better, right? I didn't feel much like taking a bath tonight but I had to take one anyways so I tried to get my mommy to finish it off as quickly as possible and she did. And then daddy came home and gave me my medicine. I also had trouble going to sleep tonight and mommy is really hoping I will be letting her and daddy sleep tonight. Tomorrow I go to day care for a couple of hours again and mommy is going to try to do some cleaning while I'm there.

I'm Sick Again or Still Sick, Depending on how you think of it

Last night I woke my mommy and daddy up at around 1 am. I was crying and coughing and crying and coughing. This went on ALL night long. This morning my daddy took me to the doctor, AGAIN, and turns our I have Strep and Croup. Fun for me!!! I know, I am way too young to be sarcastic, but really, you do know it's my mommy writing all of this, right?

So they started me on antibiotics (my daddy made sure to ask the pharmacist to flavor it with Grape flavor; did you know they do that now?) but it still tastes kind of nasty.

I took a pretty good nap though this afternoon and I actually ate a little bit of real food just now. I haven't been eating well since this whole thing started last Tuesday night you see. It's really hard to eat when I'm so stuffed up and my throat hurts and all.

Also got my 2nd antibiotics dose and man, that thing is just nasty!!! But I'm a big and brave boy, and I took it all in.

I gave my mommy some trouble when it was time for me to go to sleep. I didn't feel too well and didn't go down easy. But I'm asleep now...

On My Way to Getting Healthy

Alas, I am finally starting to feel better. On Tuesday morning I was perfectly fine. Then, at 6:30 pm I went to bed as usual. But at around 11 pm I woke up crying and in pain and with a really high fever, like 103.5F. My mommy and daddy gave me Tylenol and called the nurse hot line at my pediatrician's office. They almost ended up taking me to the hospital because I cried and cried and was inconsolable and my fever wasn't going down at all. Well, I finally fell asleep and then woke up again and they gave me more medicine and then I fell asleep again. At 5 am my fever finally broke. In the morning they took me to the doctor. They did a step test which was very unpleasant and another test for the flu which was also unpleasant. But the worst was the blood sample they took from me. It hurt so bad. Anyways, the doctor said I just have a nasty virus. My mommy and daddy took care of me very well, but a few hours later, my fever spiked to almost 105F. At night, daddy, who was also sick slept downstairs and mommy stayed up with me all night. And last night she stayed up with me as well. Today they took me to the doctor again because the night was so difficult. And they ran all of those tests again and took my blood again. But, today my fever hasn't spiked again and even though I'm not feeling great yet, I am feeling better. I even went to sleep in my own crib tonight, though I might not stay there all night. Mommy said that id I don't feel well during the night I can be in their bed again. Oh, and the doctor also said that all four first molars are coming in right now which is another reason why I feel so crummy. So the past few days have been very rough on my daddy and mommy but I hope to let them sleep tonight.

Today we started the new session of Imma & Me Class. It is an unusually warm January day (feels more like a day in April or May) and so we didn't need any jackets or hats and stuff. We had fun. I Want Those Meatballs and I'm Going to Get Them...

Mommy opened the fridge to get stuff out to make my dinner. But I had something else in mind for my dinner. I saw a bag with meatballs in them (the meatballs my grandpa Gabi made when he was here last and left in the freezer for us) and I was determined to get a hold of them. Well, I climbed into that fridge and reached and got them and managed to convince my mom to give me some instead of the turkey that she was going to give me. I win!!!

Just Another Day

My mommy is still trying to recover from our trip. She came back with a cold/sinus infection of some sort and is struggling a bit with trying to keep up with me. I'm being a really good boy so that things are easier on her. I plan on taking a really good nap today too...

Happy New Year to All and My First Visit to the Grandparents in Blacksburg/Roanoke, VA

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year to you all!!! Earlier this afternoon we came back from my first visit to the grandparents and my aunt, uncle & cousin in Blacksburg/Roanoke, VA. We left early Saturday morning and came back today. I had so much fun and so did my mommy and daddy. We stayed at a hotel so it was my first time ever at a hotel. And we went to have fun with my cousin Colin (who is exactly 2 months older than me) every day. I had so much fun with Colin and with aunt Debbi, uncle Kevin, grandpa Phil & mima Sandy and grandma Phyllis. My mommy and daddy even got to go to a movie by themselves one afternoon while everyone was watching me and Colin. Oh, I did hurt myself though and my mommy got kind of scared but I'm fine really. I lost my balance somehow when playing soccer (I think I am starting to see why they always say not to play with a soccer ball inside...) in aunt Debbi's living room and I fell onto their TV stand, right into the sharp corner. So I was bleeding from right next to my nose and some from my forehead. At the exact same time my cousin Colin managed to get his hand into the hot oven and burned himself a little. Alas, they say we are too naughty but we were just being toddlers for crying out loud. Do they really expect us to always behave? Come on... but everything is fine. I have some bruises still but they no longer hurt (it looks worse than it feels and you should see the TV stand; I actually chipped it) and Colin is just fine too.

Anyways, I behaved really well for my mommy and daddy on the trip home. I didn't sleep much but I didn't complain much either. Mommy said to daddy a couple of times that if I don't do well on the trip she's not sure we can go again until I'm older, so that's why I made sure to be a really good boy.
