Liam has Conquered the Steps

In the past few days, I have tried to get Liam to show interest in figuring out how to climb up the steps all by himself. It's really quite selfish of me. He is getting to be too heavy to carry up and down all the time. So I figured if sometimes he could do a few steps here and there on his own, that would be just fine with me. But until today he was not at all interested. Today, however, he climbed one step in the morning. And then three more in the afternoon. It always amazes me how they figure out how to do these things without any demonstration. He just knew what to do. Like he just knew how to crawl when he was ready for it. Pretty amazing. No pictures to document though because I was too busy to make sure he doesn't fall down the steps.

Liam Visits Daddy's High School Friends

This past Saturday we took baby Liam to Northern Virginia to see some of daddy's friends from high school. Liam had a really good time meeting all the new people and he never complained. He crawled around and explored the new surroundings. He didn't even get upset about getting passed around from person to person. He and Meg exchanged some intense looks, and he seemed quite content in Latanya's arms. And there are some pictures with mommy as well...

Liam Doesn't Like Avocado

At Liam's 9 months appointment the doctor said we can try new and more textured foods. He said to try avocado again. Well, as you can tell from the picture, he didn't really take to it. Oh well, so Liam won't be an avocado eater. Not a big deal. It's his loss really!

A Visit from Grandpa Phil

This past weekend, grandpa Phil came to visit the little man. They had so much fun together, building towers and knocking them down. They went for a nice walk during a surprisingly pleasant August day in Richmond. Liam gave grandpa quite the workout, having grandpa chase him all around the house while he was opening cabinets and drawers and trying to get into them. And grandpa also helped us so much with some more baby proofing and lots of other little things that added up to a lot of help. Here are a couple of pictures from the visit, and there are plenty more if you click on the link to our photos on the right.

Liam the Master Napper

Liam seems to have inherited his daddy's super napping abilities. Daddy was giving Liam his dinner while mommy was taking care of some stuff upstairs. Then I was surprised by daddy with a sleeping Liam in his arms telling me the boy fell asleep, AGAIN, while eating his dinner and that he was going to put him down in his crib. This was the thirs time this has happened. This time, however, daddy captured it on camera. Yay!!! Of course he woke up later to nurse but we think it's just too precious and we had to share.

Daddy the Hair Stylist

Last night, Scott showed his true talent to be hair styling rather than math and insurance. Liam badly needed a haircut as his bangs were going into his eyes and lots of hair was covering his ears so daddy gave him a haircut. And considering the amount of squirming involved, we think daddy did a fine job. Yeah, maybe it's not perfectly straight and all, but we think Liam looks as fine as always and he seems quite happy with his new look.

Grandma Phyllis Came to Visit

On Saturday, grandma Phyllis came to visit Liam. She was able to spend more than just one or two nights with us and stayed until this morning. Her and Liam had lots of fun together. Liam showed off his new skills of crawling, pulling up, and balancing. He also showed her how to make music with Tupperware and wooden spoons and she really enjoyed the show. Liam has also started biting me while nursing a few days ago. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about that. He's not doing it on purpose, so the firm: "no biting, it hurts mommy" doesn't seem to be doing anything because he has no idea what I want from him. So it remains to be seen what will happen. I promised myself I would nurse him until he's a year old so I will have to find a way to make him stop biting me. It really really hurts, but I can't scream because that will scare him. Ugh!!! Now that grandma has left, it's just me and Liam again. It's too hot this week to go anywhere (100F today) so we're just going to try to make the most of out time at home with the AC cranked up!!!

Liam Visits Daddy's Office

Yesterday we went to visit daddy in his office. I had to do some work for Countrywide, so I brought Liam and his sitter and some of his favorite toys to daddy's office with me. I worked and Liam was being extra cute. It was a really great for me because I got to use my brain for "normal" stuff again, but the whole day also reminded me why I am so happy that I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. I couldn't imagine leaving my little angel in the morning and only seeing him in the evening briefly before his bedtime. So I was again reminded of how blessed I am that I can stay at home with my baby. And most importantly, Liam had lots of fun playing with grown up stuff and giving smiles to everyone. Here are some pictures to show for it and there are more on our photo website (see link on the right).
